An Exciting New Term at Little Farmer’s Club for 2024
After the Winter festivities are over, we welcome you all to a Happy New Year! This also means a brand new year for the Little Farmer’s club, and we wanted to give you an insight in what to expect on your first term back!
With lots of hands-on learning for you and your little ones, and exciting animal adventures – here’s what to expect each week!
WEEK 1 (FROM MONDAY 15TH JANUARY): ‘DOWN IN THE JUNGLE’
This session is a really good chance to introduce the little farmer’s into some of the ‘zoo animals’ that we have here at the farm, that are very exciting and unusual. The children will be taught more about some of our exotic animals such as the Blue Poison Dart Frogs and the Panther Chameleons. Whilst also learning about Fiddich the porcupine and our Armadillo’s.
This weeks book is “Flip Flap Jungle” by Axel Scheffler.
The craft this session is all about getting down in the jungle… so the little ones will get the chance to create some fabulous jungle binoculars! Before having a wonderful sing-song to end the session… including some Makaton!
WEEK 2 (FROM MONDAY 22ND JANUARY): ‘THE BIG BIRDWATCH’
This week at little farmers will look at all of the different types of birds that we have here at the farm. We will be focusing on both the Go-Active Falconry Centre, as well as the farm’s own poultry and avairy. They will get the chance to see some of the birds here at the farm, as well as heading into the sultry area to hold a freshly laid egg and scoop some wheat into their feeders for breakfast!
This weeks book will be “Blackbird, Blackbird, What do you do?” by Kate McLelland.
The craft for this session will focus on making a birds nest collage from everything that the little ones have learnt throughout this session. With a beautiful sing-song to ‘5 Little Ducks’, this will be a great session for all!
WEEK 3 (FROM MONDAY 29TH JANUARY): ‘OINK!’
Its Pig week! This weeks session will teach all the little farmers’ about the weird and wonderful facts of a Pig. They will get the chance to head up into the field and feed our Mangalica Pigs some fruits and vegetables. The little farmers will also get an exclusive animal talk from one of the keepers here at the farm, who will talk to the group all about the new piglets!
This weeks book will be “What if, Pig?” by Linzie Hunter.
The craft this week will be making your own paper-plate piglet! The children can design it how they please, using what they have seen in the session to help them.
WEEK 4 (FROM MONDAY 5TH FEBRUARY): ‘CHINESE NEW YEAR’
This week is all about Chinese New Year! The group will get the chance to spend some time with the Rankins Dragon as one of our very own ‘dragons’ that live on the farm!. Some of the other Dragon’s that live on the farm, include our Bearded Dragons and Frilled Dragon… who live in the new ‘Reptiles of the World’ building, that the little farmers will get to visit.
This weeks book will be “Maisy’s Chinese New Year” by Lucy Cousins.
The craft for Chinese New Year week, is making some beautiful Chinese Lanterns! The session will finish with a sing and a dance to the ‘Dragon dance song’, before heading into February half term.
Spaces at Little Farmer’s Club can be very limited, so be sure to get you and your little ones booked in online now!
Please be aware that the January closures will NOT affect Little Farmers Club.
Little Farmers will still be taking place in the Lunch Barn until February half term.
