Our new and exciting Ranger Academy!
White Post Farm is now offering a new and exciting educational initiative: Ranger Academy! It is aimed at 14 – 18 year olds, providing them with the perfect introduction into a potential career working with animals. This programme will run in a small group of up to 10 people, ensuring quality, focussed learning, maximising the experience that you will receive. In order to achieve this, the Ranger Academy will be run by two experienced farm-members of staff, who will work alongside you for the duration of the programme.
What can be expected from this 5-day programme is a range of different educational tasks, with hands-on activities with our Ranger team. They will be learning via a mixture of both practical and theory sessions, as well as other exciting opportunities working up close with our animals, completing enrichment tasks and much more. These activities could include; animal husbandry tasks, assisting the keepers with morning feeds and checks, and many more opportunities that you won’t want to miss!
Your day will begin with a practical session in the morning, assisting the animal team with their daily jobs that get completed each day. Following this, we will be in the classroom, doing a theory based session, focusing on the practical tasks completed that morning. After a lunch break, you will get the chance to complete some unique tasks, which may include things such as reptile handling, and a chance to assist out Go-Active Falconry team. At the end of this week, you will graduate from the Ranger Academy with a bespoke certificate of achievement alongside feedback from our Ranger team – which will look great on your CV!
Our first 5-day Ranger Academy will be run by Farmer Jeanie, our Education Lead and qualified teacher, and Farmer Tom, our Animal Manager, who will provide you will all the required skills you need to pursue a potential career with animals.
Farmer Jeanie is very excited to get these sessions running;
I’m really excited to be launching our brand new White Post Ranger Academy. I think it’s a great opportunity for young people to gain experience in the animal care sector, as well as learning how we operate on a day-to-day basis, to look after and care for our animals.
You don’t want to miss this!
