Meet Janice!
Janice has been an extremely valuable member of the White Post Farm team for a long time now. She is here to tell you all about her day-to-day life working in the Tea Rooms, and all the reasons why she absolutely loves her job!
My working day!
I always look forward to my days at work… especially when there is a big team of my favourite people in! I always give everyone a hug when I come in, its the first thing I do every morning. I always get ready for the day, by putting on my apron and hat ready to start the day of work ahead!
I work in the Tea Rooms, providing our customers with hot food and drinks all day, and making sure that they leave with huge smiles on their faces… which they usually do!
In the morning when I come in, I help my colleagues prepare everything that they will need for the day, before heading out to front of house, making sure that everywhere is tidy and ready to go for a busy day! Sometimes we have additional groups come in our Tea Rooms, such as Little Farmers club, meaning that we need to make sure they have everything that they need. Other than that, it is all about making sure our customers and staff are full, fed and ready to go.
My favourite thing to make is our luxury hot chocolates… they just look so delicious!
What I love to do?
My favourite season on the farm is the Christmas period. I just love it so much because everyone here is so happy, and it has always been my favourite holiday of the year. It is so lovely to see all the children and families so excited to spend Christmas here, meeting Santa and the beautiful animals on the farm. The farm transforms into a magical winter wonderland, and it looks so beautiful. I love when we have any event on, I love the business of the farm, and it is great to see everyone having fun.
I love my days at the farm, but outside of work I also have so many hobbies. My main hobby is crocheting and cross-stitching, I spend lots of time doing this and I love making gifts for my friends at work. I once made a crocheted snowman for every single staff member – it took me almost 4 months! Everyone loved them, so it was worth every hour it took. At my house, I have a craft shed that I spend a lot of time in, and lots of my friends from work also love to come and visit.
I also love spending time with my Cat ‘Baloo’, he is extremely cheeky, and loves waking me up and silly hours in the morning by sitting on my head! Baloo is my best friend though, and I am so grateful that I can cuddle up to him every evening. Here he is playing hide and seek in the craft shed. Wherever I normally go, Baloo seems to follow me… I love it!
I have made so many friends during my time here at the farm, and now I love spending time with them in and out of work. We get to have so much fun at our events, such as the adults only evening, where we snuck out to toast a marshmallow! We loved dressing up and taking selfies for Christmas… it was such a laugh!
We are all one big family, and that makes working here even more amazing. All of us oldies in the Tea Rooms often get called the ‘Golden Oldies’, but I love it! The White Post Farm family is very special to me, and this was always my dream job!
Fun around the farm!
Outside of my working hours, I have lots of fun around the farm! On my birthday I really wanted to work and be with the people I love at the farm. I was lucky enough that I got to finish a little early, dress up in green and go in with the gorgeous lambs! I got to be a proper Farmer for a little bit of the day… the best birthday treat ever! I love summer at the farm, especially posing in the awesome photo frame and bringing my other friends for a walk around.
I really do love it here at the farm, and I know that the friends I have made here, will be friends for life.
