William and Nathans Day of Easter fun!
We had two very special visitors come and spend an exclusive day at the farm with us, where they got to partake in all of our activities, and let us know what they thought of them! William is 11 years old, and Nathan is 6 years old, and they have both been annual pass visitors of ours for a while now! So we wanted to give them the opportunity to try out our Easter event first hand!
Both William and Nathan were very eager to get started, and they headed straight over to the Easter Barn! They had been following our socials regularly, and had spotted our competition in collaboration with Notts Rocks, where 2 rocks (painted by members of Nottinghamshire rocks) are hidden around site to be exchanged for Easter eggs. Unfortunately, this day was a rare occasion, where the rocks were found in 4 minutes!! So William and Nathan didn’t manage to acquire them, but this didn’t stop them getting straight into our Easter trail!
In the Easter barn, they got stuck into story time and crafts with Farmer Claire, who appeared to be Nathan’s favourite, so he just had to get a selfie with her!
The story that they read was ‘We’re going on an egg hunt’, which set them off perfectly for their Easter hunt around the farm! So off William and Nathan went across the farm, searching for Easter clues, and showing some love to their favourite animals! They headed up to do the field walk, just in time for our Wallaby Walkthrough opening! Wallabies are Williams absolute favourite animals, so he just had to go and say hello! One of the wallabies rubbed their nose on William, as if they knew that they were his favourite – this was one of the highlights of Williams day, as he adores them!
Did you know, there are 33 types of wallabies, but one of them is now extinct” (William)
After the Wallaby Walkthrough, it was time to continue with the Easter trail, and go and say hello to some of Nathan’s favourite animals – the Cameroon sheep! Nathan made sure to give them lots of back scratches and tickles, as well as some yummy animal food!
Cameroon sheep are my favourite, and did you know people mistake them for goats!” (Nathan)
William and Nathan attended so many of the timetabled events that we had going on today, including; the armadillo talk, the jungle barn, the easter barn, birds of prey, the owl baby experience, meet an exotics keeper & sheep racing! William’s favourite event was definitely sheep racing, where he got to help out his favourite, Farmer Tom… so a selfie happened! Nathans favourite events were the armadillo talk with Farmer Katie, and the Easter barn with Farmer Claire!
At sheep racing, both William and Nathan got to be the presenters with Farmer Tom, and they did an absolutely brilliant job! They even did their very best to embarrass Farmer Tom and it was very funny. As they both have visited the farm and seen sheep racing many times before, they knew exactly how it worked and were great… we didn’t really need Farmer Tom in the end!
The whitty lads did so well! They’ve been dying to enter the ring of sheep racing and they did great!” (Farmer Tom)
We asked William and Nathan to tell us the 3 best things that they saw at the farm that day and why, and here is what they chose!
Williams 3 favourite things:
- Delilah (one of our armadillos) stood on her back legs and it was very funny!
- The barn owl squawked at us and we had never heard that before!
- A wallaby rubbed their nose on me – because they are my favourite animal at the farm.
Nathans 3 favourite things:
- The goats because they are so cute and I love to cuddle them!
- The barn owl that shouted at us – it sounded so cool!
- The Cameroon sheep because they are my favourite!
William and Nathan completed their Easter trail, so they headed back up to the Easter barn to collect their chocolate treats, and this time they got to give the baby chicks a cuddle and stroke!
They ended their brilliant day with a hot chocolate for William, and a slushy for Nathan, with a play on the outdoor park in the sunshine!
Thank you to them both for their brilliant work on the farm, and for taking part in all the activities that we had going on that day!
