A new term at Little Farmer’s Club is approaching!
… and here’s what to expect.
There is a brand new term for the Little Farmer’s club approaching, and we wanted to give you an insight on what to expect.
With lots of hands-on learning for you and your little ones, and exciting animal adventures – here’s what to expect each week!
WEEK 1 (FROM MONDAY 15TH APRIL): ‘ALL ABOUT PETS’
This week of Little Farmers Club focuses on meeting animals at the farm, that many people have as pets. They will get some exclusive time in the encounter room with their group, where they will get the chance to hold some guinea pigs and gerbils… how exciting! Our staff will be there to tell the children all about these small animals, and why they are so good at being kept as pets. This is a great opportunity for the Little Farmers to get some hands on experience with these fluffy animals, whilst also learning about their traits as pets.
This weeks book is “The Great Pet Sale” by Mick Inkpen.
This craft we will be making this session is a fish bubble painting! Using paint and straws, mix your colours and blow away… these will look awesome!
WEEK 2 (FROM MONDAY 22ND APRIL): ‘EARTH DAY’
This week is all about Earth Day! The children will be learning the powerful message of conservation this week, as well as all about how important it is to look after our planet and all of the animals we share with it! The Little Farmers will get the chance to meet some of the creepy crawlies here at the farm, who play a very important role in keeping the Earth healthy. These mini-beasts will include our Giant African millipede, hissing cockroach & Giant African land snail!
This weeks book is “Like the ocean we rise” by Nicola Edwards
This weeks craft will focus on ways we can conserve the planet and the animals in it. So our Little Farmers will be making a carton bird feeder that they can hang up in their gardens at home!
WEEK 3 (FROM MONDAY 29TH APRIL): ‘SPRINGTIME’
As we approach spring, we have some amazing spring arrivals at the farm. Our Little Farmers get to be one of the first to meet our new spring lambs and kids! Our staff will bring them out to the group, where they will get to have a gentle stroke and ask some questions about the new arrivals. This is a great chance for the children to interact with animals that they do not get the chance to meet often!
This weeks book is “Busy Spring Nature Wakes Up” by Alex Morss & Sean Taylor.
This weeks craft is more activity-based, as the Little Farmers will get the chance to plant some wild flower seeds, and then take them home and watch how they grow over spring!
WEEK 4 (FROM WEDNESDAY 10TH MAY): ‘JACKS, JILLS AND JOEYS’
This weeks session is all about our lovely wallabies! The Little Farmers will get the chance to go in with the wallabies in their walkthrough, and get the opportunity to hand feed them… how adorable!
This weeks book is “Wanda Wallaby Finds Her Bounce” by Jonathan Emmett & Mark Chambers.
This week the children will get to design and make some rock art! The children can paint whatever they would like to, and tell us why they have painted this.
*Please be aware there is no Monday session this week due to it being a bank holiday.
WEEK 5 (FROM MONDAY 13TH MAY): ‘AFRICA’
Its Africa week! This week we will be talking about all the different animals that we have here on the farm from Africa. The Little Farmers will get the chance to go over to see our meerkats here at the farm. They will get the chance to meet an exotics keeper and see the meerkats being fed, whilst learning all about them.
This weeks book is “Handa’s Surprise” by Eileen Browne.
To celebrate the theme of Africa for this week, the craft the children will be making is a lion head paper plate, using a tissue paper mane, and some googly eyes… so fun!
WEEK 6 (FROM MONDAY 20TH MAY): ‘WELLBEING WEEK’
This week is all about acknowledging what makes the Little Farmers children happy! This week they will get to go and bath the Sulcata tortoises, as it is a firm favourite, and very good for the Sulcata’s wellbeing as well! They will get to go inside the Sulcata pen, and use toothbrushes to give them a lovely bath. This is a chance for the children to understand their wellbeing, whilst also looking at the wellbeing of others.
This weeks book is “Be Happy” by Susie Linn.
This week, instead of doing a take home craft, the children will get to do some Yoga in the education barn. This gives the children chance to relax and focus on their wellbeing, after a busy session!
Spaces at Little Farmer’s Club can be very limited, so be sure to get you and your little ones booked in online now!
Little Farmers will be returning to the education barn ready for this new term to begin!
