Ranger Academy is back… with a twist!
After the success of last years 5 day Ranger Academy, giving you the chance to gain experience of what being a Ranger is all about, we are now launching a suite of different Ranger Academy’s for you to get involved with – starting with those aged 11 through to one for those looking for a carer change!
With three types of Ranger Academy available, there is something for everyone to get stuck into! Find your age range, take a look at what each academy has to offer and reserve your space!
Junior Ranger Academy – for 11 – 13 year olds
This Spring we’re excited to introduce our first ever Junior Ranger Academy ‘Springtime Special’. A two day taster course to give a short experience of working with and caring for animals.
Aimed at 11-13 year olds it’s the perfect introduction for those who maybe in the early stages of thinking about working towards a career with animals or for those with a passion for animals. This two day offering has plenty of hands-on experience in a small group to ensure focused learning aimed at a slightly younger audience than our traditional Ranger Academy. Two of our expert keepers will teach you a range of skills from handling techniques to making the animals some fun enrichment. This springtime special will involve work with our lambs and goat kids, as we will be focusing more on our new seasonal spring arrivals.
You will graduate from Ranger Academy with a bespoke certificate of achievement and feedback from the Ranger Team – perfect for adding to your CV! The Junior Ranger Academy ‘Springtime Special’ is a 2 day course running from 9am to 1pm on Thursday and Friday. It includes a daily snack but you will need to bring a packed lunch (if you wish) for once your daily course has finished.
Our Junior Ranger Academy dates will be running on Thursday 11th April until Friday 12th April, giving you two full days of fun and education in a working farm environment, that you don’t want to miss!

The Course begins at 9am, so an 8:45am arrival to the farm is suggested, to give you time to settle in before the sessions begin. This session will finish at 1pm on each day, so a packed lunch may be necessary, but a daily snack will be provided.

Ranger Academy – for 14 – 18 year olds
Our fantastic Ranger Academy is back… with a springtime twist!
Changing to a three day course – Ranger Academy ‘Springtime Special’ will focus on our active lambing season here at the farm, with participants able to get hands on experience of working with the lambs and goat kids. You will have the opportunity to have plenty of working time with our new arrivals, all in a smaller group to ensure focused learning and led by our experienced and knowledgeable farm team.
Aimed at 14 – 18 year olds, Ranger Academy is the perfect introduction for those working towards a career with animals or for those with a passion for animal care.
As you graduate from Ranger Academy you’ll take away a bespoke certificate of achievement and feedback from the Ranger Team – perfect for adding to your CV!
The Ranger Academy is a 3 day course running from 9am to 1pm from Monday to Wednesday. It includes a daily snack but you will need to bring a packed lunch for once you finish your daily course.
Our next Ranger Academy dates will be running from:
Monday 8th April until Wednesday 10th April, for three full days of hands-on learning and fun with a keeper and a small learning group.

Ranger Academy Exploration – for adults only
After numerous enquiries and NEW for 2024 is the Ranger Academy Exploration ‘Springtime Special’ for anyone who is over 18. It’s the perfect introduction for those who have a passion for animals or are interested in a potential career change into animal care or to see what caring for animals is all about.
This two day Springtime Special offering has plenty of hands-on experience in a small group to ensure focused learning. Two of our expert keepers will teach you a range of skills, and equip you with the knowledge you require to start your journey into working within the zoo industry.
The Ranger Academy Exploration ‘springtime special’ will focus in particular on our lambing season and all the work, care and attention required at such a busy season including working with our newest arrivals our lambs and goat kids and getting to know how to take care of them.
You will graduate from Ranger Academy with a bespoke certificate of achievement and feedback from the Ranger Team – perfect for adding to your CV or to use in talks with future animal care providers. The Ranger Academy Exploration ‘Springtime special’ is a 2 day course running from 9am to 1:30pm on Saturday and Sunday and includes a hot drink at break time.
Our Ranger Academy Exploration dates will be running from Saturday 20th April until Sunday 21st April, giving you adults a full weekend of jam-packed learning and fun!
