HOME EDUCATOR DAY: SUSTAINABILITY SUPERHEROES!
On Monday 28th April, we celebrated all of our Sustainability Superheroes at our Home Educator Day! This day was jam-packed with lots of animal activities, as well as some exciting activities including Butter Making, ‘Whose Poo?’ and ‘All About the Bees’!

Whose Poo?
One of our exclusive activities for home educators was our ‘Whose Poo?’ activity. This activity included a range of different photographs of lots of our WPF animals, accompanied by some sample pots of their poo! Our home educators were tasked with matching up which poo, belonged to which animal and they were brilliant at it!
Farmer Kate and Farmer Craig were there to lend a helping hand and help you identify which poo belongs to which animal! Did you guess them all correctly?

Butter Making
Our home educators also got stuck into some butter making with Farmer Freya and Farmer Kate! They were taught all about the milking cycle, even learning a little dance to help them remember it, before making their own butter.
To do this, our home educators learnt that the way to turn the cream to milk, was by shaking the jar extremely well! Despite it being a hot and sweaty day, everybody was hard at work shaking their jars, and all of them turned their cream into butter. It was incredible!

All About the Bees!
One of our extremely busy activities for Home Educator Day was our Bee talk, where everyone learnt about the bees with Farmer Freya.
Farmer Freya taught them the bee dance, to show them how the worker bees find pollen, and they also got the chance to dress up like Beekeepers and see our very active beehive! Our home educators even tasted some of the WPF honey that was made from our own beehive!

Sheep Shearing
As well as our extremely busy Home Educator Day, we have had sheep shearing take place all day inside the Silver Barn!
It’s that time of year again, where all of our sheep need a haircut, and shearer Mike joins the WPF team to make that happen! From our grey face Dartmoor’s, Valais sheep and Dorsets, its hair-cuts all round. Mike and the team have been busy in the barn, answering all of your interesting questions, whilst shearing our wonderful sheep.
Be sure to take a look at their fresh new haircuts on your next visit to the farm! You can even purchase their wool from our Gift Shop… it is great for gardening!

Thank you to everyone who visited us today and got involved in all of our exciting activities for Home Educator Day… it’s been a blast! Roll on the next one.
